NHL trade review: Oilers, Kings swap Cammallieri and Jokinen

The Edmonton Oilers have acquired forward Michael Cammallieri from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for forward Jussi Jokinen.

Both Cammallieri and Jokinen are older players, Cammallieri being 35 and Jokinen 34. They were signed to cheap one year deals in the offseason, and were trade candidates this season, and now have been traded. It\’s not much of a difference between the two, so it\’s an even trade. Cammallieri might be slightly better, but also has a slightly smaller contract (he is getting paid $1 million, with Jokinen being paid $1.1 million) .

Cammallieri, 35, has scored three goals and four assists for seven points in 15 games for the Kings this season. In his long NHL career for the Kings, Calgary Flames, New Jersey Devils and Montreal Canadiens, Cammallieri has scored 290 goals and 330 assists for 620 points in 855 games.

Jokinen, 34, has scored one point, an assist, in 14 games this season. In his NHL career for the Oilers, Carolina Hurricanes, Dallas Stars, Florida Panthers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Tampa Bay Lightning, Jokinen has scored 186 goals and 361 assists for 547 points in 905 games.
