NHL trade review: Canucks acquire Leipsic

The Vancouver Canucks have acquired forward Brendan Leipsic from the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for defenseman Philip Holm.

For the Canucks, Leipsic is a good player who has had trouble making a name for himself in his career. He has had some potential, which is why he was picked in expansion draft. Vancouver is a third chance for Leipsic.

Leipsic, 23, has scored two goals and 11 assists for 13 points in 44 games for the Golden Knights this year. In his NHL career for Vegas and the Toronto Maple Leafs, Leipsic has scored three goals and 13 assists for 16 points in 50 games.

For the Golden Knights, they have too many forwards, and defensemen, but have better forwards. Holm is more depth for team with the most depth in the league. Leipsic didn\’t have too much value for them.

Holm, 26, has scored no points in one game for the Canucks this year, his in the NHL. For the Utica Comets this year, Holm has scored 11 goals and 18 assists for 29 points in 42 games.

I think this is an even trade. Both teams get the player of position that they need, which is obviously a plus.
