The Atlanta Braves have acquired 1B Lucas Duda from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for cash considerations.
For the Braves, Duda is a power hitting bench bat that can help them down the stretch. With Freddie Freeman at first, Duda won\’t get too many starts. But, he can pinch hit for them late in games. He comes at almost no price, and is a pending free agent, so it doesn\’t affect them too much.
For the Royals, they are one of the worst teams in baseball, and there was no point in keeping him. At least they get something for the left handed batter.
Duda, 32, has a .242 batting average, 13 homers and 48 RBIs in 341 Plate Appearances for the Royals this year. In his MLB career for the Royals, Tampa Bay Rays and New York Mets, Duda has a batting average of .242 with 151 homers and 453 RBIs in 3436 Plate Appearances.
