The Minnesota Wild have acquired defenseman Brad Hunt and a 2019 6th round pick from the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for a conditional 2019 5th round pick (the Knights receive the better of the Wild\’s two fifth round picks).
For the Wild, they have been active on the market recently, acquiring forwards Pontus Aberg and Victor Rask. They get a defenseman now. Hunt is a depth defenseman who didn\’t get much time with Vegas this year, but was decent when in the lineup.
Hunt, 30, scored scored two goals and five assists for seven points in 13 games for the Golden Knights in 2018-19. In his NHL career for the Knights, Edmonton Oilers, Nashville Predators and St. Louis Blues, Hunt has scored seven goals and 27 assists for 34 points in 91 games.
For the Golden Knights, Hunt is a defenseman getting minimal playing time, appearing in just 13 games for them this year, and 58 in two years. They didn\’t really need him, and they trade him and upgrade a round in the draft, which is better than losing him on waivers.
