MLB news: Harper, Strickland suspended for brawl

      After a brawl on Monday, Washington Nationals RF Bryce Harper and San Francisco Giants RHP Hunter Strickland have both been suspended. Harper will miss three games, Strickland will sit out for six. For a video of the brawl, click here (MLB) .

      Harper, 24, has a .322 batting average, an NL leading 15 homers and 41 RBIs in 174 ABs this year. He has a career .282 batting average, 136 homers, 375 RBIs and 58 steals in 2510 ABs. He\’s a four time all-star, and one time MVP, ROY (obviously a one time winner) and silver slugger over six years, all in Washington.

       Strickland, 28, has a 1.53 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 17.2 innings this year, he has a career ERA of 2.50 in 137 innings, punching out 134 batters, all as a member of the Giants. In 2014, he won a World Series.

       During the incident, Giants 1B Mike Morse was injured, and was placed on the 7-day concussion DL. They recalled 2B Kelby Tomlinson in his place.

       Morse, 35, has a .194 batting average, one homer and three RBIs in 36 ABs this year. He has a career batting average of .274, with 105 homers and 355 RBIs in 2569 ABs for the Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates, Miami Marlins, Baltimore Orioles, Nationals and Seattle Mariners.

       Tomlinson, 26, has a .231 batting average with no homers, an RBI and two steals in 26 ABs this year. He has a career .294 batting average, with two homers, 27 RBIs and 12 steals in 310 ABs, all with San Francisco.

MLB news: Philies place Velasquez on DL

     

  Another pitcher is headed to the DL in the MLB, after the Philadelphia Phillies placed RHP Vince Velasquez on the 10-day disabled list with a right flexor strain. To replace him, RHP Ricardo Pinto was recalled from Lehigh Valley (AAA).

        Velasquez, 24, has a 5.58 ERA with 53 strikeouts in 50 innings this year. He has a career 4.49 ERA and 263 strikeouts in 236.2 innings with the Phillies and Houston Astros over three seasons. He was part of the blockbuster trade that sent firearm reliever Ken Giles to Houston.

        Pinto, 23, has never played in the majors. He has a 5.53 ERA with 27 Ks in 42.1 innings this year for Lehigh Valley. He has a ERA 3.39 ERA with 371 strikeouts in 522.2 innings in his minor league career (all levels).

MLB news: Red Sox place Pedroia on DL, activate Panda

 

    The Boston Red Sox have placed 2B Dustin Pedroia on the 10 day DL (wrist), and have activated 3B Pablo \”Panda\” Sandoval from the 10 day DL.

      Pedroia, 33, has a .292 batting average, two homers, 21 RBIs and a steal in 171 ABs this year. He has a career .301 batting average, 135 homers, 683 RBIs and 135 steals in 5765 ABs, all for the Red Sox.

      Sandoval, 30, has a .213 average, three home runs and 10 RBIs in 61 ABs this year. He has a career batting average of .286 with 119 HRs and 519 RBIs in 3752 ABs for the Red Sox and San Francisco Giants

MLB news: Royals place Duffy on DL

    

The Kansas City Royals have placed LHP Danny Duffy on the 10 day DL with an oblique strain. He\’s expected to miss 6-8 weeks.

      Duffy, 28, has a 3.54 ERA with 54 strikeouts in 68.2 innings this year. He has a career ERA of 3.70 with 594 Ks in 691.2 innings, all for the Royals. He\’s been their ace this year since the passing of Yordano Ventura this offseason.

      To replace Duffy, the Royals have recalled LHP Eric Skoglund from Omaha (AAA). Skoglund is ranked as their 3rd best prospect. The 24 year old has never played in the MLB. He has a career minor league ERA of 3.74 with 266 strikeouts 310.2 innings.

MLB news: Trout to miss 6-8 weeks with thumb injury

    

  The Los Angeles Angels have placed CF Mike Trout on the 10 day DL with a UCL tear in his left thumb. He\’s expected to miss 6-8 weeks.

        Trout, 25, has a .337 average, 16 homers (second in MLB to Aaron Judge), 36 RBIs and 10 steals in 163 ABs. He leads the league in OBP (.461), slugging (.742) and of course OPS (1.203). He\’s a five time all-star and two time MVP.

        He has a .308 batting average, 184 home runs, 533 RBIs and 153 steals in 3160 career ABs, all for the Angles.

        To replace Trout (on the roster, you can\’t replace his skill), the Angels selected the contract of OF Eric Young Jr, and transferred LHP Tyler Skaggs to the 60 day DL.

        Young, 32, is one for four with two steals for the Angels this season. He has a career .246 batting average with eight homers, 88 RBIs and 147 steals in 1510 ABs for the Angels, New York Yankees, New York Mets, Atlanta Braves and Colorado Rockies.
